Agent tools
The tools an AI app gets once it is connected (see Connecting AI apps).
Reading
| Tool | What it does |
|---|---|
| search_knowledge | Searches the knowledge base with a question, name or topic and returns only verified passages, word for word, with ids to cite. Counts as one question. |
| get_note | Reads one note in full, with the notes it links to and that link to it. Long notes come in parts. |
| list_notes | Lists the notes (title, category, last update), filtered by category or title if asked. |
Writing (only when the user allows adding and editing notes)
| Tool | What it does |
|---|---|
| create_note | Adds a new note. Kenby picks a category if the app doesn't name one. An app can't give a note a title another note already has. |
| append_to_note | Adds text to the end of a note without changing what is there. |
| update_note | Replaces a note's title, category or text. It only works while the note is at the revision the app last read, so nobody's newer edit is overwritten. |
There is no delete tool: only you delete notes, in Kenby.
Limits
Reading and listing notes is free; each search counts as one question (see Plans and pricing).
Adding and editing notes is free, up to 20 changes a minute per app or key.
Every change an app makes is kept in the note's history with the app's name, and can be restored (see Version history and trash).
Notes an app adds show "Added by" and the app's name.
