Importing files
Kenby imports these formats from Add knowledge → Import:
| Format | Files |
|---|---|
| Word | .docx |
| Excel | .xlsx |
| CSV and TSV | .csv, .tsv |
| Web pages | .html, .htm, or a page's address in "Import from a web page" |
| Markdown | .md, .markdown |
| Plain text | .txt |
A .zip of these files imports them all at once, which suits a whole folder or an exported notes vault.
What happens to a file
Converted in your browser. Every file becomes a Markdown note on your own device. Headings, lists and tables are kept; page headers, footers and page numbers are dropped.
Nothing is rewritten. No AI touches a note's text, so answers can quote your exact words.
Nothing is lost. If a conversion would miss more than a trace of a file's words, the import review warns you before anything is saved.
Split into passages. Each note is split into short, verbatim passages that answers can cite.
Sorted and linked. Kenby suggests a category for each note, which you can change before saving, and leaves a document unticked when its text matches another one. Links between notes are drawn on the graph (see Links, categories and the graph).
Imported notes count toward your plan's pages (see Plans and pricing).
