Links, categories and the graph

The Knowledge graph shows every note as a dot, grouped and coloured by category, with lines between notes that belong together. The lines are a map for you; answers never depend on them.

Two kinds of lines

  • Linked: a note's text links to another note, written as the other note's title in double square brackets ([[Pricing]]), as a Markdown link, or as the address of an imported web page. To connect or disconnect two notes, edit the text. A link to a note you haven't added yet waits and connects when that note arrives.

  • Related: worked out by Kenby, never stored. Notes are related when one mentions the other's title, when they share an uncommon tag, or when they say similar things. Within a category, each note joins its closest note. Turn these off with Show related lines.

Categories

Every note has a category. Kenby suggests one on import from the title and text, and you can change it, rename a category, pick its colour or add your own.

Built-in categories: Policies, Technical Docs, Customer Data, FAQs, API Specs, Meeting Notes, Projects, Processes, Research, Product, Marketing, Sales, HR and Finance. A note with no clear category goes to Uncategorized.

Renaming a note

When you rename a note, Kenby offers to update the links in other notes that point to its old title.
